Mustang is a safe, vibrant bedroom community with a professional workforce where quality of life is the main attraction. Although settlers first came here in the late 1800s, Mustang was not incorporated into a city until 1969. Since then, our population has continually grown to nearly 19,000, making us one of the youngest and fastest growing communities in the state.
Mustang is in close proximity to the Mike Monroney Federal Aviation Administration facility as well as Will Rogers World Airport. Many local residents have “white collar” jobs in nearby Oklahoma City. Average income levels are higher than the metro average and crime is incredibly low in consideration of the amount of citizens that call Mustang home.
Mustang has small town charm with quick and convenient access to metropolitan shopping and entertainment. Located on the southwestern gateway to the Oklahoma City Metro area (pop. 1.3 million) at the intersections of State Highway 4 and State Highway 152, and just five minutes south of Interstate 40, located along the historic Chisholm Trail (famous for the cattle drives of the 1800’s)
Although our City Limits only encompasses 12-square miles, Mustang’s market area is estimated at six times that area and includes a population of nearly 70,000. We are home to a national publishing company, great restaurants, and a number of national retailers. Local household incomes well exceed the state average, traffic counts are ever increasing, and there is ample opportunity for future growth in a number of market sectors.
